Some silicone moisture absorption is about 40%, or even 300%. It is also used as a catalyst for gas drying, gas absorption, liquid dehydration, chromochromat analysis, etc. Silicone pads have excellent weather resistance, chemical resistance, cushioning, sound absorption and superior adhesion, and are extremely widely used.

Even when cut and subjected to extremely high torsional stress, hot-sulfur solid silicone rubbers are not torn apart. Thermally sulfurized solid silicone rubber has tear strengths ranging from 9-55 kN/m. Fluorosilicone tear strength ranges from 17.5-46.4 kN/m. The tear strength of liquid silicone rubber ranges from 11.5-52 kN/m.
